Aviation Cargo and Mail Security Training

The aviation cargo security training has 7 levels. Each Level is targeted to employees level of responsibility and access to cargo.


Level A

The aviation cargo Level A course is for staff that have access to secure areas but do not have direct involvement with air cargo.

Course content:

  • General Awareness
  • Organisation of aviation security
  • Principles of air cargo security
  • Responding to suspicious circumstances
  • Reacting to Threat Warnings

Course Presentation: Power Point, Course Handout Book, Practical + Theory

Full Course Duration 1 day

Assessment: Written Test

Level B

Cargo Security Training Level B is for drivers with responsibility for Known Cargo.

Course contents as Level A plus:

  • Drivers of vehicles

Course Presentation: Power Point, Course Handout Book, Practical + Theory

Full Course Duration 1 day

Assessment: Written Test

Level C

Cargo Security Training at Level Cis for staff involved with controlling access to, searching and loading of aircraft.

Course contents as level A + B plus:

  • Access control, cargo protection and patrolling controlled areas
  • Searching, checking and controlling access to aircraft
  • Recognition of firearms and explosives

Level D

Cargo Security Training Level D is for staff involved in the handling or preparation of air cargo.

Course content as Level A+B+C plus:

  • Methods of concealment
  • Methods of making cargo known

Course Presentation: Power Point, Course Handout Book, Practical + Theory

Assessment: Written Test

Level E

Cargo security training Level E is for staff involved in the screening of unknown cargo. If course taken in the UK all delegates must take and pass the Cargo National X-Ray Competency Test (NXCT) before they will be permitted to operate an x-ray machine.

Course content as Level D plus:

  • Using cargo x-ray equipment. (Only available at clients premises)
  • Physical Examination

Full Course Duration: 2 days without x-ray practical / 3 days with x-ray practical

Level F

Cargo security training at Level F is for supervisors of staff qualified up to and including Level E, or staff who have day-to-day responsibility for air cargo procedures. (Please note participants will be required to pass the NXCT before they are qualified to operate an x-ray machine)

The course content as level E plus:

  • Security supervisor

Course Presentation: Power Point, Course Handout Book, Practical + Theory

Full Course Duration: 2 days without x-ray practical / 3 days with x-ray practical

Assessment: Written Test

Level G

Cargo security training at Level G is for the “Appointed Security Manager” and the “Site Security Representative” (Please note participants will be required to pass the NXCT before they are qualified to operate an x-ray machine) Prior to a Level G holder delivers training, they  and the training programme they propose to use must be approved by the Department for Transport.

Course content as Level F plus:

  • Security manager.

Full Course Duration: 3 days without x-ray practical / 4 days with x-ray practical

Assessment: Written Test
